How to Use Calculate Discounts
A quick, simple guide to help you find your exact sale savings while shopping in-store or online.
1. Standard Discount Mode
Use this mode to figure out how much an item will cost after a percentage discount is applied.
- Enter Original Price: Type the full tag price into the top box.
- Enter Discount Percentage: Type the percent off (e.g., enter 25 for 25% off).
- Use Recently Used Discounts: Tapping a saved percentage chip will automatically fill in the discount field.
- View Results Instantly: Your Final Out-of-Pocket Price and Total Savings update immediately as you type.
2. Adding Extra / Stacked Discounts
Got an extra coupon code on top of a store sale? Here's how to calculate compounded savings:
- Check the Add Extra / Stacked Discount toggle box.
- Enter your secondary percentage discount in the box that appears.
- The calculator applies discounts sequentially (just like store registers do) to give you an accurate final total.
3. Including Sales Tax
Avoid register surprises by including local sales tax ahead of time:
- Check the Include Sales Tax in Calculation toggle box.
- Enter your local tax rate (e.g., 8.25%).
- Your estimated sales tax and total price before tax will expand in the results breakdown.
4. Reverse Savings Mode
Know the original sticker price and the final sale price, but want to know the exact percentage off?
- Select the Reverse Savings tab at the top.
- Enter the original price and final sale price.
- Instantly see the exact Percentage Saved and dollar savings.
